DETECTIVES are confident of a breakthrough in one of the nation's most gruesome murder mysteries as they review people on the same medication as the victim.
A man whose decapitated, burnt torso was found on the side of a road near Gympie on September 19 last year had been taking the hypertension drug Irbesartan, as well as Quinine.
Detective Inspector Bruce McNab told The Courier-Mail that police had obtained a "not so big'' list of patients known to have been taking similar medication.
He said officers were conducting doorknocks of those individuals.
"We are working our way through the Queenslanders first. A breakthrough could come from the next door we knock on,'' Det Insp McNab said.
