HUNDREDS of United States truckies protested for two days over pay and over-regulation last week. has reported that truck drivers turned out in the hundreds in Florida for the protest that began on June 8 with a convoy from Miami to Tallahasse.

The protesters stopped traffic near the Florida capital for about 15 minutes.

Two of the truckies were arrested for blocking the intersection, resisting arrest and interfering with the arrest of another.

After the arrests hundreds of drivers and their supporters then blocked traffic on Okeechobee Rd in Hialheah Gardens during evening peak hour traffic. also reported a truck driver was tasered twice during the first day of the protest.

Apparently during the demonstration a group of truck drivers surrounded police troopers who were trying to detain a woman.

Police said the driver would not let go of the woman and he struck an officer.

He was then tasered twice before being arrested and is facing charges of resisting an officer with violence and battery of an officer.

The man’s daughter criticised the way police handled the situation.

“I feel like they are treating him like an animal. I think cops should see the hard work these truckers go through every day of their lives,” she said.

The second day of the protest didn’t include a blockade but police were forced shut down Hialeah Gardens roadway as the truck drivers lined up along the busy road again.

WSVN news reported the drivers were protesting for fair pay as freight brokers took too much off the top.
