Home ransacked, couple assaulted in Leichhardt burglary

Police are investigating after a man and woman were assaulted in a house at Leichhardt yesterday afternoon.

Around 12.30pm two men have entered the Casey St residence and confronted a 35-year-old man and the 27-year-old woman known to them.

After a verbal argument one of the men has armed himself with a large bladed weapon before ransacking the residence and stealing a number of electronic devices.

The men fled in a silver vehicle in an unknown direction.

The woman was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
