Hoax call sends 350 teenagers onto footpath at nightclub

POLICE are looking for a hoax caller who last night made a threat to police that "something" was going to happen at Rockhampton's Studio 2 Nightclub, where an underage-event was taking place.

About 350 teenagers, aged between 12 and 17, were at the nightclub at a planned underage event.

Studio 2 was evacuated for some time, while police examined the premises for any threats.

A police media spokeswoman said a 000 call was made to emergency services sometime between 6.50pm and 7.10pm

Police traced the call back to an Allenstown phone box.

When they arrived there, no one was in the area.

It is believed the event continued after the evacuation.

It's not known what type of threats the caller had made.

If you have any information that could help police contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
