Historic show cooking
Some historic recipes will be cooked up to help celebrate Gatton’s centenary show.
The Cookery section stewards have picked out two cakes from the 1942 schedule for two special classes at this year’s show.
The cakes are a rainbow cake and a ginger sandwich.
The classes are open to all ages with $10 for first prize, $6 for second and $4 for third prize.
Stewards are reminding entrants that this year’s show entries for the cookery section will need to be at the grounds on Wednesday, July 13, by 11am.
Judging will start at 12.30pm that day.
The cookery section will be found in the main pavilion near the photography section.
Due to Saturday night hosting the entertainment schedule, entrants can collect their exhibits on Sunday morning from 8am to 11am.
If you are unable to collect your entries during the time-frame, entrants will have to organise an alternative time.
For the younger generation, there is also a school cooking class with gingerbread people the recipe of choice.
With great sponsors, there is plenty of good prize money to won.
