WATCH: Hero truck driver saves school bus tragedy
DRAMATIC CCTV footage has caught the moment a bus carrying 20 children almost collided into a semi-trailer on Sydney's M5 motorway.
CCTV footage shows the truck having to break so hard to avoid the coach it jackknifes while the other vehicle carries on seemingly oblivious to the accident that almost occurred.
The incident happened on Thursday morning on Sydney's M5 motorway at Hammondville in the city's south west.

On the footage, the bus - carrying approximately 20 schoolchildren - can be seen waiting to merge into the lane.
As a car passes, the coach pulls in but the driver seems unaware of an oncoming semi-trailer.

The truck driver is forced to take evasive action and brake heavily, jack knifing the lorry in order to avoid a collision. As plumes of smoke from the truck engulf the motorway, the school bus calmly drives away from the chaos it caused.
NSW Police are appealing for the truck driver and witnesses to come forward.

Following the incident, passing motorists flagged down the coach driver and alerted police.
Officers from Liverpool spoke with the bus driver, a 59-year-old man, and commenced investigations.
The truck driver has also since been identified by police.
