Ivan Henjak has resigned as Falcons coach.

IVAN Henjak has quit as coach of the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

The 51-year-old took the reins of the struggling Intrust Super Cup club at the start of the season and the side has failed to win a match in 10 outings.

Club officials say Henjak left the role after reading a metropolitan newspaper article which suggested he would be sacked this season when NRL's Canterbury Bulldogs form an affiliation with the Falcons.

The Falcons have told the Sunshine Coast Daily that a deal with the Bulldogs is far from done and that he had the club's support.

But Henjak didn't want to be looking over his shoulder so he called it quits.

The Falcons coaching role was Henjak's first significant one since he was sacked as head coach of the Brisbane Broncos less than a month before the 2011 NRL season.
