POLICE are seeking public assistance to help locate a Canadian tourist believed missing in the Cairns area since the end of May.

Maxime Gagnon, pictured, was last confirmed to be in Cairns on Friday, May 6. There is an unconfirmed sighting of Mr Gagnon in the vicinity of the Cairns Esplanade lagoon pool in the last week of May.

The 29-year-old has not contacted family or friends since May 6 and police hold concerns for his safety as the amount of time is out of character.

He is described as 180cm tall, Caucasian in appearance, proportionate build with blue eyes and brown hair.

Anyone who has seen Mr Gagnon is urged to contact Policelink on 131 444.
