Harry Potter spin-offs on big screen in 2016

IF the magical world of Hogwarts already feels like an age ago, then don't despair: Warner Bros has announced it will release three Harry Potter spin-off films starting from next year.

The Business Wire reports the pictures will be based on J.K Rowling's novels "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", which were written as an extension of Harry's wizarding world, featuring magical creatures and characters inspired by one of his textbooks.

At it's Investor Conference on Wednesday, Warner Bros said the films would be directed by David Yates, the director of the last four Harry Potter movies.

J.K Rowling is also set to be on the filmmaking team.

Earlier this month, Rowling's fans were set on high alert after she tweeted some cryptic clues which worked out as an anagram for "Harry Returns! Won't say any detials now! A week off! No comment."

The three movies will be released two years apart, with the final one in cinemas in 2020.
