Group charged $5 a litre for petrol from pub patron
A GROUP travelling through Westwood were hoping for help from a good a Samaritan.
The group of animal breeders were on their way back to Brisbane after the Rockhampton Show when they ran low on petrol near Westwood.
While the servo was closed, The Bulletin was told the group was in luck with a patron of the pub willing to help them out.
But that didn't come without a cost.
The man charged the group $5 a litre for petrol, and gave them just enough to make it to Biloela Sunday night.
A friend of the group told the Morning Bulletin how disappointed they were in the man's money-making behaviour.
"They didn't fill up before leaving because they wanted to get on the road before dark, and didn't know the station would be closed," she said.
The group's friend, who didn't want to be named, said that this reflected badly on the region.
"It's just a total rip off and really rude," she said.
"Somebody should've giving them a break."
The woman said her friends were upset with the incident after having such a successful time at the show.
