'Gross, I found a spider on my Woolworths broccoli'

A DARLING Downs woman who found a spider on her broccoli proceeded to cook and eat the vegetable.

Chinchilla woman Jess Foreman is on a strict broccoli and chicken diet while in training for the upcoming INBA Tropix bodybuilding competition.

She found the spider last week and said it was gross.

But not being a prude and understanding that these things cannot be helped, she proceeded to wash, cook and eat the vegetable.

"Some people are not so understanding," she said.

"It was pretty gross but there are worse things that could happen in life.

"The spider clearly died in the steaming process."

Ms Foreman's find comes after a redback spider was found in broccoli bought from a Townsville Coles.

A Coles spokeswoman said the supermarket chain had "quality control procedures" in place to avoid such incidents in the supply chain.

Ms Foreman said she was yet to receive a response from Woolworths.
