Green groups call for inquiry into miners and pollies

ENVIRONMENTAL campaigners have called for a public inquiry into the influence of the mining industry on Queensland Government decisions.

A report from the Australian Conservation Foundation has examined links, including political donations and meetings, between six mining companies and the State Government.

The companies examined included Adani, Linc Energy and Beach Energy.

The report highlighted "perceived" influence on the government, but did not allege any specific misconduct by industry, politicians or public servants.

ACF campaigner Hannah Aulby said a public inquiry was needed to "uncover the full influence of the mining industry on government".

The state government held 145 ministerial meetings with the industry in 2013, compared to 87 such meetings under the Newman government.
