Grants to connect kids with type 1 Diabetes

TYPE 1 diabetes affects kids across the state - and Diabetes Queensland wants to make sure they are helping children no matter where they live.

Diabetes Queensland Health programs officer Karen Bucholz called on regional Queensland community and support groups to apply for grants up to $5000 to help children with type 1 diabetes.

"We're urging regional Queenslanders to please apply, as we want the money spread across the state," Ms Bucholz said.

"By providing money towards camps and activities, Diabetes Queensland lets kids with type 1 diabetes meet and share their experiences with other children living with the same condition."

"It's just great for the kids and families, too. Sometimes you can feel like you're the only one having to deal with injections, insulin, blood glucose levels or emergencies. These days let kids and parents mix and have some fun with people who are managing the same concerns."

Applications close December 4 and can be downloaded and submitted online at
