MORE than 600 research projects, covering everything from improving school learning of mathematics, to koala conservation and manufacturing ideas, were given a share of $250 million on Wednesday.
Education Minister Christopher Pyne released the final list of projects funded through the Australian Research Council's Discovery Projects scheme.
Despite large cuts to research and science efforts in the government's May budget, Mr Pyne said such projects were needed for the nation to "build its research capacity".
Among the new projects was a grant of $603,900 for the Queensland University of Technology to find new ways to teach students science, technology and maths.
Another was more than $450,000 for the University of the Sunshine Coast to investigate chlamydia infections in koalas' eyes to help prevent koala blindness.
