Goulding guides Tigers to triumph over hawks

ANOTHER man-of-the-match effort from 'money man' Chris Goulding gave the Melbourne Tigers a thrilling 81-76 win over the Wollongong Hawks at home yesterday.

Goulding scored his first points of the game, a triple on the buzzer, to give the Tigers a 29-20 quarter-time lead. And from then on he was unstoppable, finishing with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

With the game on the line in the final quarter, Goulding delivered a brilliant no-look pass for a Scott Morrison dunk, and then hit a fade-away jumper to swing the game Melbourne's way.

Oscar Forman and Rhys Martin (pictured) kept the Hawks in the contest early, and with Rotnei Clarke (17 points) and Tim Coenraad (14 points, seven rebounds) joining in after half-time, the visitors levelled the score at 74-all with three minutes on the clock.

The Tigers had lost 90-87 to Adelaide on Friday night.

In other results, Sydney beat Cairns 99-86 and Townsville beat New Zealand 91-78.
