Good deed ends in high-speed chase to Tabbimobile

A PERSON who stopped to help after a single-car crash near Jackadgery got a nasty surprise when the crash victim stole their car.

Police said the white Ford Territory was stolen at about 1am yesterday, and the driver allegedly stole petrol from a South Grafton service station soon after.

When the vehicle was sighted by police and failed to stop at Ulmarra, a pursuit was begun.

Police will allege the Ford Territory travelled up to 180kmh during the pursuit, and due to the danger it was terminated at Tabbimobile.

Police from the Richmond Command restarted the pursuit near Woodburn. The vehicle stopped near Broadwater about 2am, and it is alleged a 26-year-old Moree man ran from the car and was caught.

A search of the car found cannabis and cash.

The man was charged with serious traffic offences and drug offences and has been refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court today.
