Golden opportunity to help
MACK fans will have a golden opportunity to own the last remaining limited edition 50th Anniversary Southern Cross Titan on Saturday, May 31.
'Goldie' will be auctioned at the Commercial Vehicles Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ) President's Charity Dinner, with profits from the sale going directly to the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland.
The limited edition Southern Cross Titan series was released last year to celebrate the trucking giant's 50th anniversary of production in Australia.
Vice President Sales - Mack Trucks, Dean Bestwick, said the auction was a great opportunity for Mack to support a local Queensland charity.
"Like us, the Leukaemia Foundation is part of the Queensland community. It's essential that we give back, and there's no better way than to auction an iconic Mack truck," Mr Bestwick said.
"Cancer has touched many people within our organisation. The auction is an important way for Mack to show its ongoing support to those who've been affected by the disease.
"The proceeds of Goldie's sale will provide assistance to people living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders throughout Queensland."
Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland chief executive officer Bill Petch said funds raised from Goldie's auction would go towards providing patients and their families with world-class support services as well as investing in medical research.
"The proceeds from Mack's generous donation will assist in keeping our vital support services free of charge for patients impacted by a blood cancer diagnosis," Mr Petch said.
Goldie is a one-of-a-kind 685 horsepower truck, with a gold cab, which represents the rugged Australian outback.
Mr Bestwick said the auction was a rare opportunity for Mack enthusiasts to add the prominent rig to their fleet.
"There were only 30 Southern Cross Titan's made last year and 29 were snapped up very quickly," he said.
"I imagine a long-standing customer or die-hard Mack fan will help support this great cause and buy Goldie on the night."
Parties interested in bidding on Goldie can register their interest with their local Mack sales representative. Bidders will be invited to attend the event on the night.
Goldie will be on display for truck enthusiasts in King George Square on the night of the event.
Mack golden girl and Australian country music singer Amber Lawrence will perform on the night.
