Gold Coast Suns start pre-season training

IT seems like only yesterday the AFL season finished, but it was a distant memory for Gold Coast players when they started pre-season training yesterday in hot and humid conditions at Carrara.

Everyone on the club's list with less than eight years of experience was required - except Tom Hickey and Josh Toy who have been given the week off while trade negotiations continue with other clubs.

Hickey has been linked with St Kilda while Toy has attracted interest from some Victorian clubs.

The Suns squad will leave for Arizona on Sunday for a two-week high-altitude training camp.

The club's first match of the 2013 season will be against St Kilda at Metricon Stadium on Easter Saturday
