HAVE Adelaide United and Sydney FC finally unlocked some attacking potential ahead of their round 10 clash at Coopers Stadium tonight?

The Sky Blues recorded their first win in five games, a 1-0 victory against Newcastle last Friday night.

And the Reds won their first game of the season, also with a 1-0 triumph over Perth last Sunday.

While on paper a 1-0 win doesn't say a great deal about a team's attack, Sky Blues coach Graham Arnold said he was delighted with his team's performance against the Jets.

Winning courtesy of Alex Brosque's second-half strike, the Sky Blues threatened Newcastle goalkeeper Mark Birighitti's goal on 11 occasions, compared to the Jets' seven.

"The first half was probably the best Sydney FC performance since I've been at the club," Arnold said.

The Sky Blues have been dealt a blow, however, with goalscorer Brosque (hamstring) expected to be sidelined tonight.

Veteran striker Shane Smeltz is the man most likely to get a start up front in Brosque's absence, although Matt Simon is another option.

Arnold also backed misfiring Slovakian Filip Holosko to fire in the skipper's absense.

While the Reds had a whopping 21 total shots to the Glory's 11 last round, only six of those were on target suggesting the team still needs to work on its finishing.

Despite having just a solitary win to its name, Adelaide will fancy its chances of making it two on end against the harbour-city club.

The Sky Blues have not won consecutive matches against Adelaide since the opening match of the 2008-09 season.
