Gatton swimmers kick ahead

SWIMMING: A total of 18 Gatton Club swimmers braved the Toowoomba cold to attend the Fairholme Short Course Winter swimming carnival last weekend.

It was a day for beanies, Ugg boots and hot chocolate, but that didn’t stop the swimmers from getting in and giving it their all, which was evident with four swimmers achieving State qualifying times and some smashing their personal best times by 10 and 11 seconds.

This was the first short course carnival for the Gatton Swim Club this year.

The short course will be one of many the club will be involved in over the next few months leading up to the State Short Course Championships which the swimmers are working towards.

Gatton’s Courtney Podham, Jordan Webster, Tyler Shepherd and Bonnie O’Mullane made State qualifying times.
