Fun returns to Creek
AFTER many months of devastation, cleaning up and recovery, this weekend was Murphys Creek's turn to smile.
The Murphys Creek Family Fun Day, held on Saturday, brought residents from the local and surrounding area to join in the fun and enjoy the concert.
The entertainment on the day included a range of rides, a giant slippery slide, a display of cars, army vehicles and of course the guests of honour, the Bananas in Pyjamas.
The celebrations concluded Saturday night with a concert showcasing the Dave Flowers Band, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre Company, comedians from the Sit Down Comedy Club and a fireworks display.
Community recovery leader, Peter Soulter, said the event was an important part of the recovery process.
“We have the drive and determination to rebuild our community and it starts with this day,” he said.
“It has knocked us for six.
“Our lives are changed forever.
“But we are starting to come together, pick up the pieces, think about the future.
“We are holding this day to give residents a chance to have a break with family and friends and to say thanks to the many volunteers and supporters from around the nation for their assistant during this challenging time.”
