Fun, festive luncheon
MEMBERS of the Lockyer Valley Artists Inc. gathered last Wednesday at the Laidley Cultural Centre for their Christmas Break-up luncheon.
Club members took a break from their paint brushes and canvas to practice their culinary skills, creating a smorgasbord of international foods from all over the globe.
A feast was prepared by members whose background is as diversified as their styles of art.
Christmas Carols provided the musical accompaniment to the group’s busy morning of festivities.
Ursula von Heymann won the prize for the best decorated table which was judged by Peter Friend, from the Lockyer Valley Regional Council, who joined the group for the luncheon.
Rolling raffles were held over the morning which gave members and visitors the chance of winning some wonderful prizes ranging from fine china to German chocolates to potted plants and much more.
Several awards were awarded to Andy and Aina Apalais for their services to the club.
Party games and quizzes brought forward great hilarity with Santa’s bag emptying quickly.
Secretary, Judith Baker said that very few social groups were lucky enough to have the dedicated support from their members as the Lockyer Valley Artists Inc.
Judith said the group is looking forward to their involvement in the community activities in 2010.
