Miller named in Junior Kangaroos
FORMER Mullumbimby Giants junior Jacob Miller has been named in the Junior Kangaroos rugby league train-on squad.
Miller, who played four NRL matches with the Wests Tigers this season, was named after emerging as one of the major driving forces behind the Tigers' under-20s making the finals.
Miller was selected along with Tigers teammate Matt Groat, who also debuted in the NRL this season.
The team will be coached by former Canterbury player and current Bulldogs under-20 coach Andrew Patmore.
Miller's star is certainly on the up at the Tigers.
First grade coach Tim Sheens is an unabashed fan of the feisty play-maker and he is tipped to play more first grade next season despite again being eligible for the under-20s.
Indeed, with first choice halfback Robert Lui facing charges for assault, Miller could be called up into the 26-man squad during the off-season.
Teaming up regularly with five-eighth Benji Marshall would be an ideal way for Miller to establish himself as a first grader.
The ARL Junior Kangaroos will play the New Zealand Junior Kiwis in Newcastle in a curtain-raiser ahead of Australia's Test match against New Zealand on Sunday, October 16.
More players will be added to the squad after the grand final this weekend with the final squad to be named next Tuesday.
