Paperwork delays accused arsonist's court appearance

A MAN allegedly involved in a botched burglary at Bongaree in March will face a court in Brisbane today.

Bradley James Hamilton is currently behind bars and is expected to face court via video link.

Hamilton, 35, has been charged with a string of offences including assaulting or obstructing police, breaking into a home, possessing drugs, stealing mail, motor vehicle arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He was due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

However, the court heard Hamilton had not signed paperwork to help him secure a lawyer, and the matter was adjourned until Friday.

Hamilton and another man have been charged over the burglary at the Bribie Island suburb where it is alleged they stole cash, alcohol and other items from a unit before one of the men dived into Creel Bend Creek in an attempt to obstruct officers.
