Neighbour says he witnessed brutal Christmas Day bashing

A MAN says he had just started watching a movie with his family on Christmas night 2012 when he heard a scream and went outside to find a man being brutally bashed.

Four men - Anthony David Joseph Phillips, 29, Douglas Allan Phillips, 25, Michael Robert Selmes, 23, and Dallas Glenn Kincaid Dean, 34 ALL - have pleaded not guilty to murdering Robert "Jessie" Jordan at Morayfield on Christmas Day in 2012.

On the second day of their joint trial in Brisbane Supreme Court on Tuesday, one of Mr Jordan's neighbours gave evidence saying he heard a man yell "stop hitting me".

He said he went to the front door and saw five men assaulting another man in an alleyway on the street.

"They were punching him in the head... when he hit the ground they were stomping on him on the outer torso, back and head area as well as bending over and repeatedly hitting him in the head," he told the court.

The neighbour said he walked towards them and was on the road, in the middle of the cul-de-sac when one of the men approached him.

"He said to me 'It's none of your f**king business, he's touched a child'," the neighbour said.

The man said he went back into his house and spoke to his wife, who rang police.

From their spare bedroom window they watched what was unfolding and relayed their observations over the phone.

The neighbour also said he heard someone yell "you're a pedophile" while the alleged attack was happening.

After the men left, the man said he walked across the road to find Mr Jordan lying on the ground gurgling and moaning.

He also said Mr Jordan had blood coming out of his mouth, nose and ears.

The trial continues. -
