Flood warning for Central Queensland, Wide Bay rivers

A FLOOD warning spanning from Central-west Queensland to Wide Bay-Burnett has been released this afternoon, as forecasters predict up to 100mm of rain between now and Saturday.

Waterways in the Fitzroy, Calliope, Boyne, Baffle, Kolan, Burrum-Cherwell, Burnett and Mary catchments are all at risk of flooding, according to the Bureau of Meteorology alert.

The Bureau expects an upper trough to deliver showers and storms to parts of the south-east today, evolving into rain overnight and into tomorrow. 

The widespread rain expected for Friday is to ease on Saturday

The Bureau warns "rainfall totals of 50-100mm are possible, with locally higher totals likely with storms".

"Heavy rainfall may also lead to localised flash flooding."
