THERE'S a reason why spring is the designated season to overhaul your home. Not that we have much of a winter here compared to other countries, but we still naturally spend more time in the home in the cooler months of the year.
Along with spending more time indoors, we also tend to collect more stuff as we make our homes cosy. So now is the time to clean and put away those excess blankets and throws.
You may also have lighter bedding that you can exchange for the heavier quilts used in the cooler months.
Spring is also the perfect season to bring the outdoors inside. Start with cleaning your windows. Sparkling windows will make outdoor views of blooming gardens better.
Another excellent home hack is to rearrange the furniture, especially in the living rooms, to suit the season. Clusters of furniture work well in winter, but in the warmer months it's all about air circulation.
It's not called a fresh coat of paint for no reason. This season could be the impetus to paint the home, perhaps in an entirely new colour. Changing soft furnishings and floor coverings also instantly creates a new look.
And, finally, add some scents. A thoroughly cleaned and decluttered home with plenty of fresh air circulating is a great start. Perfumed fresh flowers add beauty and scent, as does a spring-inspired scented candle.
