THE first group of offenders were transported from Borallon to the new Southern Queensland Correctional Centre near Gatton last week.

More than 60 prisoners were transported to the facility with another 80 to be taken this week.

Director of the correctional centre Scott McNeirn said the facility would be operating at full capacity by the end of the month, holding a total of 300 offenders.

"The transition has gone exceptionally well and it is a good facility," he said.

There are a number of job opportunities to become a part of the 201 staff at the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre, with trainee custodial officers currently looking to be recruited.
