WATCH: Fire destroys Southern Downs home

UPDATE: A blaze has destroyed an old house on a Southern Downs property this afternoon.

Fire crews battle for almost an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze, that engulfed the abandoned home on Hendon Victoria Hill Rd at around 4.15pm.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said the home was reported as vacant at the time.

Two urban crews, one rural crew and a rural water tanker worked to extinguish the blaze until 5.35pm.

A Southern Downs Regional Council water tanker was also called in to assist.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this stage.

Investigations are ongoing.

BREAKING: A house of the southern Darling Downs is fully engulfed in flames with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services on scene.

The fire is located on Hendon Victoria Hill Rd at Deuchar, west of Warwick.

It was reported to emergency services about 4.15pm.

Authorities on scene are working to protect nearby properties as they have reported there is no chance of saving the house.
