Thieves steal firearms in pre-dawn piggery break-in
FIREARMS have been stolen from a Warwick property in an early morning heist.
The Glengallan Piggery on Willowvale Rd was broken into sometime between 4.44am and 5.20am yesterday morning.
Thieves were able to gain access to a gun safe and steal two firearms.
Warwick Police officer-in-charge Jamie Deacon said the safe keys were located in the piggery office and were used by the thieves to gain access to the safe.
"It it always concerning to police when firearms are stolen," he said.
"The good thing is most firearms are registered and can be identified easily if they show up somewhere down the track.
"As always, police urge all owners to ensure their firearms are well secured in accordance with legislation.
"And owners must make sure they keep gun safe keys in a place not easily located by unauthorised persons.
"Keeping safe keys in a combination safe would be most advisable."
Police investigations are continuing.
