Fire authorities investigate poultry shed blaze

UPDATE: Fire authorities will today begin their investigation into a blaze that destroyed most of a large poultry shed north of Gatton.

The fire started about 4.30pm yesterday.

The building was well alight when crews arrived about 5pm.

No chickens were inside the building at the time.

TUESDAY 7PM: A tractor fire is believed to have sparked a blaze which destroyed half of a large poultry shed in the Lockyer Valley.

Emergency services were called to a Gatton Esk Rd property at Adare, north of Gatton, at 4.34pm.

Gatton fire station officer Lieutenant Mark Luther said the building was well alight when crews arrived shortly before 5pm.

They were able to contain the damage to about half of the structure, bringing it under control within half an hour.

He said there were no chickens inside the shed at the time of the fire.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said no injuries were reported.
