Fire crews called to battle 1km long fire front on highway

UPDATE 3.30pm: No property was damaged as a result of a grassfire on the Cunningham Hwy this morning.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said the blaze was brought under control at 11.25am.

The fire front was 1km long, but reportedly did not get any larger as it burned.

No one sustained injuries as a result of the fire, which was burning near Bestbrook Mountain Resort.

Crews from Warwick, Maryvale, Freestone and Gladfield were called to the scene.

INITIAL 10.30am: Firecrews are on their way to battle a blaze on the Cunningham Hwy.

The call for assistance was placed at 10.35am about a significant grass fire between Maryvale and Cunningham's Gap near Bestbrook Mountain Resort..

Early reports from multiple 000 calls in the region indicated property including houses were under threat from the fire, but this threat has now been downgraded.

Urban crews from Warwick as well as rural firefighters from Maryvale, Freestone and Gladfield have also been tasked to the scene to fight the 1km long fire front.
