Fatal crash closes Warrego Hwy

TWO people have died after a serious accident on the Warrego Hwy on Sunday afternoon.

Around 2.40pm, emergency services were called to an accident between a car and a road train around 15kms east of Dalby.

Dalby Police Traffic Branch officer-in-charge Sergeant Brett Stevenson said early indications were that the car was travelling on the wrong side of the road when it collided with the truck.

Four people were ejected from the car, killing two men aged 39 and 41, and paramedics used CPR to revive one patient, who has since been transported to Dalby Hospital.

Two other men aged 36 and 46 were both transported to hospital, one with critical injuries and the other with serious injuries.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

While paramedics battled with one major crash, a second one occurred just 100 metres away.

A car towing a caravan rolled, resulting in the hospitalisation of its husband and wife occupants.

The two patients, both in their 60s, were treated for possible neck injuries.

Drawing ambulance resources even thinner, a third crash occurred in Jondaryan around the same time.

A vehicle towing a horse float had jack-knifed but nobody was injured.

Investigations are continuing.
