Tributes for family man killed in workplace accident
TRIBUTES have flown in for Trevor McClure, who was killed in a workplace incident in Monto on Sunday.
The 43-year-old Builyan man was an experienced timber cutter, and worked regularly in the Monto district in the past decade.
His sister-in-law, Maddison Seckington, has started a GoFundMe page, with the money raised from it to go towards Mr McClure's funeral and to help the family he has left behind.
"Trev was definitely a tough nut but family meant the world to him. He took great pride in his wife Shannon and their three beautiful girls," Ms Seckington wrote on the page.
"This tragic accident has not only left Shannon without her husband and love of her life but has also left her a sole parent of their three girls - Mackenzie, Charlee and Dusti - who all now have to come to terms with a future without their father at such young ages."
The GoFundMe page can be found at gofundme. com/293dcks.
Alarm of Mr McClure's absence was raised on Sunday about 7pm after a day on the job.
Following an extensive search and rescue operation, Monto Police Senior Constable Ron Mientjes said Mr McClure's body was found near Hurdle Gully Rd.
"He was part of a logging team and it appears he was struck by a tree from behind," Snr Const Mientjes said. The incident will undergo further investigation.
