Esk music students put on a show to wow VIP audience

VISITORS to Friday's assembly at Esk State School got a special treat as the school's musicians went through their repertoire.

Hot on the heels of the school band and junior choir's gold and silver medal-winning performances at the Laidley Band Festival, music teacher Adam Smith put the groups through their paces in front of a very special guest.

Education Queensland's regional music co-ordinator Gary Poole was there to run the ruler over the school's successful music program and be entertained by their obvious enthusiasm and talent.

"My job is to cover all schools from Ipswich to the border," Mr Poole said.

"I tell you what, what I saw today is second to none."

Mr Poole and an audience of appreciative parents heard from the school band, the choir, the guitarists and the percussion skills of a swag of xylophonists.
