Macca's robbed by man armed with screwdriver

A MAN armed with a screwdriver held up Ipswich McDonald's on Monday night.

Police have described the man as of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, approximately 178cm with a thin build.

Police allege the man entered the Limestone St McDonald's franchise around 12.45am, where he approached the counter, produced the screwdriver and demanded the attendant hand over money from the till.

The staff member complied with the man's demands and he fled the scene with an undisclosed sum of cash.

He was wearing a dark hooded jumper, beige shorts and white shoes.

Ipswich police believe the man escaped on foot through the nearby Baines Park on Limestone St in the vicinity of the Ipswich fire station.

They are working with nearby businesses for further CCTV footage as well as checking nearby Safe City cameras.

The police are looking for any information from the public regarding the robbery and the identity of the robber.
