Elderly woman attacked by two cattle dogs at Goondiwindi

UPDATE: AN ELDERLY Goondiwindi woman was left injured after being attacked by two dogs at the weekend.

The woman, 91, was mauled by the cattle dog and pigging dog while standing on the street on Saturday morning.

Following the attack, a police officer attempted to secure the dogs, but one became aggressive and he was forced to use capsicum spray to subdue the dog.

A police spokesman said the dogs were unrestrained.

"She was out on the street… down the road from her house.

"Goondiwindi Council was contacted, and they are now in possession of the dogs, and…are investigating.

"One of the dogs was a bit aggressive and was sprayed."

Her injuries forced her to be taken to the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, where she was in a stable condition yesterday afternoon.

YESTERDAY: TWO cattle dogs attacked an elderly woman at Goondiwindi this morning, causing her to be hospitalised.

The two dogs remained unsecured after the attack, and when a police officer attempted to secure the dogs, one snapped at him.

The male officer deployed his capsicum spray on the dog.

A police spokesman said the matter had now been referred to Goondiwindi Regional Council.
