Driver with serious injuries after crash near Helidon
POLICE are investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred overnight in the Darling Downs District.
Initial information suggests that at about 8.20pm, police received reports that a vehicle was driving dangerously on the Warrego Highway at Dinmore near Ipswich.
Police responding to these reports have sighted the vehicle and followed from a distance before they have attempted to stop it using tyre spikes, but this has been unsuccessful.
The vehicle was eventually followed by police for around 70kms before the vehicle left the highway and rolled into a tree off the Warrego Highway east of Helidon.
The male driver in his 30s and sole occupant of the vehicle was trapped in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries as a result.
The Forensic Crash Unit and the Ethical Standards Command are investigating.
A spokesman for the Queensland Ambulance Service said a man in his 30s was transported in a serious condition to Toowoomba Hospital with leg and pelvis injuries after the incident.
