Driver caught nearly 8 times over the legal limit

A MAN caught driving while nearly eight times the legal blood alcohol limit was pulled over in Main St, Buderim.

Police will allege the 38-year-old Buderim man gave a breath-test reading of 0.399% when he was pulled over at 6.20pm on Sunday.

He was charged and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 18.

Another man was stopped at the same location and charged with low-range drink driving, after returning a 0.054% reading.

Maroochydore Police Acting Sergeant Lynda Dowd said police had an anywhere, anytime approach to random breath testing and traffic enforcement.

"It's very frustrating for police when drivers fail to get the road safety message and drive whilst severely impaired," Acting Sergeant Dowd said.
