Detectives swoop on teens allegedly behind 20+ Mackay crimes

TWO teenagers allegedly responsible for a string of offences have been nabbed by Mackay detectives following an on-going investigation.

Officers from the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch and Child Protection Investigation Unit yesterday found an 18-year-old Mackay man and a 14-year-old juvenile allegedly responsible for 29 crimes across the region.

The 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with 22 offences including breaching a bail condition, contravening a direction, 6 counts of stealing, 2 counts of receiving tainted property, 3 counts of unlawfully using a motor vehicle, 2 counts of dangerously operating a motor vehicle, failing to stop a vehicle when directed, trespassing, 2 counts of common assault, threatening violence, burglary and unlawfully possessing suspected stolen property.

He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court this morning to have the charges heard.

The 14 year old has also been arrested and charged with seven offences including possessing drug utensils, possessing dangerous drugs, stealing, 2 counts of unlawfully using a motor vehicle, attempted robbery and burglary - and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.
