Darren Lehmann makes the dressing room team tick
RUNNING errands for the Australian cricket team over the past couple of days has been a fun experience.
I have to admit, though, I would much rather have been in Sydney playing in the Shield game against New South Wales.
It was tough being left out and with no grade cricket over the weekend because of the Test in Brisbane, it's even worse not having the chance to get out and score some runs.
I can't wait to get out into the middle in next week's game between a Queensland XI and the England Lions.
In the meantime I will keep running drinks and messages out at the Gabba, and giving throwdowns to whichever batsman needs them.
Doing the 12th man duties for Australia during the Gabba Test has obviously been interesting.
It actually feels very comfortable in the Australian dressing room with Boof (Darren Lehmann), Mendo (conditioning coach Damian Mednis), Ryano (Harris), Mitch (Johnson) and Watto (Shane Watson) - all Queenslanders and Brisbane Heat teammates - being there.
In fact, it feels very much like being in a Queensland dressing room with the way it is all run.
There is no doubt in my mind that Boof created an outstanding culture in the Queensland and Heat dressing rooms in his two seasons here, and the Aussie dressing room has his fingerprints all over it.
It must have been such a buzz for the players to run out on to the Gabba in front of 35,000 fans on Thursday.
There was no panic in the rooms when the Aussies crashed to 6-132 - everyone knew what they had to do.
