A DAD has been left red faced, after falling victim to a hilarious Kmart design oversight.
Taking to Facebook, the man's wife - Taylah Devaney - posted two photos of her daughter's cot set, which features golden stars on a pale pink background.
Looking at the blanket print in daylight, the embroidery looks nondescript. But as soon as the lights go out, the golden star patterns turn in to the stuff of nightmares.
"Tonight my husband put our daughter to bed, turned on the monitor & went to sit down," Mrs Devaney wrote on the Facebook page, Kmart Mums Australia.
"Out of nowhere he jumped up with a panicked look on his face & raced to her room."
Quizzing her partner about what had upset him, he explained how the golden stars looked like spiders all over the bed when the lights went out.
"See that pattern on her blanket? I thought it was a big black spider in her cot!" he said.
The post, which has received more than 2.7k reactions, had hundreds of users agreeing with his concern.
"They do look spiderish at first glance," one person wrote.
"I don't blame him I thought they were spiders as I was scrolling through!" another added.
The manchester set, which retails at $15, is reversible with stars only appearing on one side of the cover.
