Cruising for good cause

THE Lowood locals are shaping up for one of the biggest rides of their lives, as the Queensland Institute of Medical Research fund-raising bike ride approaches.

Teachers Bronwyn Dawber, Jenni Einam and daughter Kaitlyn Einam made the decision to complete the 200km ride over one weekend to raise money for cancer research.

The three are part of a ten member team called ‘Just Cruising'.

“In order to ride we each have to raise $2500, only then can we qualify and participate in the ride,” Ms Dawber said.

“We have had sausage sizzles and donations from friends and Superbutcher at Eagle Farm have been wonderful in providing everything, but we still need more donations.

“The great part about this ride is the money goes towards cancer research in general, it's not about one specific type of cancer or admin fees.

“We have been doing a bit of training in preparation for the event and this weekend I will ride from Plainland to Wivenhoe which is 100km.”

As a cancer survivor herself, Jenni Einam said donations to causes like this were important.
