Crows to throw rookie in the deep end against Dockers

ADELAIDE plans to use rookie revelation Hugh Greenwood in the midfield to combat the power of Fremantle pair David Mundy and Nat Fyfe when the teams clash tonight at the Adelaide Oval.

Greenwood, though 25, will play just his second game after impressing in his debut against the Lions last week, when booting three goals.

A former basketballer who turned his back on a career with the Perth Wildcats, Greenwood stands 190cm and weighs 90kg and will take on the Dockers pair who are among the biggest onballers in the league.

"Going up against Mundy and Fyfe will be a good match-up for him to see how he can handle the level," Crows assistant coach Scott Camporeale said.

"His inside stuff has been the most impressive thing and the way he gets at the opposition.

"He's from a basketball background, so he actually gets and reads the game in tight really well."

Another basketballer turned footballer, power forward Josh Jenkins, returns to the Crows after being omitted last week, along with the hard-running David Mackay.

"D-Mac comes back in through a bit of team balance," Camporeale said.

"We thought we were one runner down last week in terms of his flexibility he brings.

"With the two Hill boys (Stephen and Brad) on the wing it's a different sort of make-up, so we'll always pick the team that we best think is going to win."
