A BONE-RATTLING cold snap has arrived on the Southern Downs and no one - not even the local livestock - are safe from the chilly blast.

Southern Downs residents have turned to social media to share with the world what it is like living in an area in the grips of a chilly blast.

Sandra McEwan shared a photo of a goat attempting to get inside her house.

"Ya know it's cold when your goat is trying to find a way to break in...." she said.

Food Connect Brisbane posted a photograph of outdoor furniture covered in ice on the Stead family's property at Stanthorpe, where it got to minus 10 degrees.

Meanwhile, last night photos were posted to Stanthorpe on Facebook showing a thick layer of ice on the ground.

In Stanthorpe it is expected to be 0 degrees tomorrow morning, -2 on Wednesday and -2 on Thursday.
