Coulter-Nile helps roll Sunrisers after midnight

AUSTRALIAN fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile has steered Kolkata Knight Riders to a seven-wicket win over defending IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in a rain-hit eliminator.

Player of the match Coulter-Nile took 3-20, including a stunning caught-and-bowled to dismiss Chris Jordan.

Rain delayed play for nearly three hours soon after David Warner's Sunrisers were restricted to 7-128.

Knight Riders had six overs to hit a revised target of 48. The match finished at 1.27am local.

Their captain Gautam Gambhir hit an unbeaten 32 off 19 balls in his team's 3-48 to notch the win with four balls to spare.

Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians will meet in the playoff on Saturday (AEST) at the same venue with the winner going through the final against Steve Smith's Rising Pune Supergiant on Sunday in Hyderabad.

Warner (37) and Kane Williamson (24) put on 50 in 46 balls for the second wicket before both were dismissed within three balls with total on 75.

Warner became the first foreign batsmen to complete 4000 runs in the IPL, ending up with 4014.
