Could this be Australia's ultimate desktop display?

A SUPER high speed QLED curved monitor which uses Thunderbolt 3 technology has been unveiled by Samsung at Europe's biggest tech show IFA 2018 in Berlin.

Samsung confirmed the CJ79 monitor would be sold in Australia from September 3 with a price tag of $1599.

Claudio Cardile, Head of Visual Display, Samsung Electronic Australia said the technology offered Australians the 'best possible viewing experience, whether for work or play'

"By combining Thunderbolt 3 connectivity with our best-in-class curvature and stunning QLED picture quality, we've developed a display that will improve productivity and deliver a more immersive entertainment experience for Australians,'' he said in a statement.

"As a leader in the curved monitor space, we're always pushing to find new innovations and refinements that keep our products at the forefront of display technology, and the CJ791 is our most advanced and elegant display yet.".

Compatible with Macs and PCs, the monitor features two Thunderbolt™ 3 ports that transmit display, data and power at up to 40 Gigabits per second (Gpbs), eight times faster than USB 3.0, and simultaneously charges devices up to 85 watts(W), all through a single cable.

Work on Multiple Projects

Samsung says the 3440x1440 ultra-wide curved display with its 21:9 aspect ratio provides all users with the workspace needed to multi-task.

The Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature allows users to resize the second source to up to 25 percent of the screen and position it anywhere for a more readable format.

With the height-adjustable stand and tilt functionality, CJ79 lets users customise the positions

The display incorporates Quantum Dot technology with brilliant detail across a 125 percent sRGB color spectrum.

The curved VA panel technology produces a 3,000:1 contrast ratio.

Samsung says the AMD FreeSync synchronises the refresh rate of graphic cards for the CJ79 to reduce image tearing and stutter, providing seamless gameplay and video playback for uninterrupted viewing.
