Coominya benefits from beef supplier
COOMINYA based Australian Food Corporation supplies more than 360 million beef patties to McDonald’s every year, resulting in a significant economic contribution to the Coominya community.
Each day 1.4 million meat patties are produced and supplied to 176 Queensland McDonald’s restaurants, and additional restaurants nationwide.
The Australian Food Corporation employs more than 130 people in the local community, contributing $6 million in wages annually.
McDonald’s aims to work with all local suppliers, including the Australian Food Corporation, to assist them in providing uninterrupted, long-term supply of quality produce in a way that minimises impact on the natural environment.
As a significant employer, purchaser, retailer and franchisor in Australia, McDonald’s makes it a priority to add value to the community.
In everyday operations, McDonald’s ensures the business relationship between its supply partners and the restaurants contributes to economic growth in the communities in which it operates.
McDonald’s Gatton licensee Shane Doyle said McDonald’s has always been committed to supporting Australian producers and manufacturers, with their first preference to always source from within Australia.
“A high proportion of McDonald’s products and ingredients are sourced locally, with only seven percent of our produce needs imported from overseas,” Doyle said.
“McDonald’s makes it a priority for suppliers to operate a sustainable and profitable business.
“It is the relationships with suppliers such as the Australian Food Corporation which make it possible for McDonald’s restaurants to serve consistently high quality food.
“We see our suppliers as a critical part of the overall McDonald’s system and the business aims to ensure supplier relationships are long term and mutually beneficial.
“As a company, McDonald’s has experienced considerable sales growth in the past few years and with this growth comes increased opportunities for employees, franchisees and suppliers.
“McDonald’s commitment to using local suppliers has a substantial economic impact in Australia.”
In response to continued growth and the addition of new menu items, many suppliers have made major investments in new facilities to manage the increasing volumes required by McDonald’s restaurants.
