Bottom dweller cast last line for the year

BOTTOM Dwellers Fishing Club celebrated their end-of-competition year with a celebration and presentation at Cahill Park on Saturday night.

Watching the slideshow of photos, it was easy to take your mind back to some cracking fishing trips.

With catches of monstrous Red Emperor, Snapper, Cod and Coral Trout, it was hard to resist the urge to run out and grab the boat.

There were several winners awarded for classes and largest catches in species for deep sea fishing, fresh water fishing and estuary fishing with the list long and distinguished.

However, the major winners were as follows.

Deep sea top scorer went to Russell Bachmann.

Fresh water champs were tied after a countback between Aaron Werth and Gavin Swan.

Estuary champ was awarded to Andrew Schmidt and the junior champion was Aiden Schmidt.

Aiden showed some photos of his "horse" Flathead he landed at the Eddie Classic Shield.

This lizard was over 90cm and any angler would have loved to be in that photo.

The overall 2012 club champion was Andrew Schmidt.

The club would be battling if not for the loyal sponsors.

The new competition year kicks off from November 1 for financial members and the club is holding its AGM tonight at Andrew Schmidt's residence (North St, Gatton).
