ADRIAN Elder will bring up a special milestone when he takes the field for Ipswich tomorrow.

Captain of the Ipswich Jets Under 20s squad, the 20-year-old will bring up his 50th game when the Jets host the Western Mustangs at North Ipswich Reserve.

"Nothing really changes,” Elder said.

"It's been a long time playing in the Colts now.

"I just want to go out there and play the best that I can and hopefully get the win for the boys.”

Since making his debut against Souths Logan, Elder has become an integral part of the Jets Colts.

Impressed with the young halfback's dedication, Colts coach Adam Boettcher said he should be proud of the achievement.

"It's a big effort and not many guys do that,” he said.

"You pretty much have to debut as a 17-year-old and spend two-and-a-half seasons in the competition.

"From memory there's only one other player I've coached who has done it and that was Sean Ham.

"He made his debut a week after he turned 17 and played about 62 games.

"As I said it's a big effort for AJ and the guys will get around that this weekend.”

With just one victory from six pre-season games, the Jets started the proper season with an important win over Wynnum last week.

Joined by the Intrust Super Cup and BRL squads for their first home game of the Colts competition, Boettcher hoped the extra support would help the Jets against their old rival.

"Last week was a good way to start the year,” he said.

"However the Mustangs have been a bogie team for us. It goes back to the Bulimba Cup days when Ipswich would play Toowoomba.”

The Ipswich Jets take on the Western Mustangs from 11.30am tomorrow at North Ipswich Reserve.
